One good choice leads to another!

I posted this today on the 200+ board of the weightwatchers.ca - the thread was about whether people believe one good choice leads to another.

I do think that! I think really we are all one decision away from turning it around at any point. It is never over!

Dr. Oz in his book 'You on a Diet' uses the term "making a You-turn" - when you realize you are not making the right choices, you turn around and make it different.

I remember before joining WW and even in this last year feeling like a victim - like my weight was just happening to me when, in fact, I was the one in control of what I put in my mouth and whether or not I moved.

It made it easier to take on this huge challenge when I realized it was entirely within my control to make my life different.

I remember thinking that I need to be focused on my health because I am an older mother (45 next week with a 6 yr old and 3 yr old) and they need me! For at least another 15-20 years to raise them and ensure they are able to take care of themselves. Hopefully longer!

They don't need me dropping dead of a heart attack at 45.

So I can't control everything - life happens! But those things I can control - what I eat and whether I move - I will so that I actually will be here for them. (Okay, now I am crying!)

I think it is good that I am remembering why I started this journey. It was the faces of DD and DS when he was first born looking to me to meet their needs. I know they have their father but they really need me and I need to be here. So I'm glad this question was posted - I really needed this reflection. :)
