It's almost 24 hours since we did the this last group run and I am still on a high. I feel so good because there is always this voice in my head that tells me I won't be able to do something - lose weight, get to goal, maintain the weight-loss, be athletic, or run. That voice has been going steady for so long and I have been believing it. But one of the things I started doing on this weight-loss journey is challenging these thoughts. So I have, by starting the Learn to Run program. It's a great group of women of all sizes and fitness levels with a fantastic enthusiastic leader. Its been great to have the support. And that negative voice is getting silenced.
I am losing weight! I will get to goal! I will maintain my weight-loss! I AM ATHLETIC! and I CAN RUN! I AM A RUNNER! Imagine that!
At last night's final group run for the "Learn to Run" program, we did the race route for this Saturday's 5K run. The weather was cool and had been raining all day so really the best running weather for me. I had a FANTASTIC run and I felt great. After the last few weeks, I really needed a good run. I managed to run the whole way except for less than 3 minutes of walking. It was just amazing. Usually we run at 10:1 intervals (run 10, walk 1) but I kept running through the first walk interval which means I ran 21 minutes straight. I ended up walking 2 of the other minute intervals plus part of one hill because I felt my heart-rate just sky-rocket (not good!). Ironically, an ambulance passed by right then.
I am so proud of myself. I am still on a HUGE high today. If I do as well on race day, I'm going to be thrilled. I am really going to try to run all the way through the race. We'll see how I feel Saturday!
Yay me! I'm so excited! :)

That is so awesome. I am currently struggling at 2min run- 2 min walk intervals, so I can imagine the feeling of doing 10 min intervals. Yes, you are a RUNNER! Have a great run on Saturday.
