More than halfway there!

Okay so here I am creating a blog but mostly it is so that I can post pictures of the changes. This has been an amazing journey and I can hardly believe that I am here.

I reached 342 lbs when I was pregnant with my son Donovan who was born on February 18, 2006. At first I was too tired to even think about my weight and still recovering from a caesarian section I knew I needed to start doing something about my weight because I felt awful. I was tired all the time, the only clothes that fit were the ones I wore when I was pregnant. I felt tired, my blood pressure was not well controlled and I just found out I had borderline cholesterol issues.

I started walking in September 2006 with a friend but no change in my weight as I was not changing my eating habits at all. They consisted of eating pretty healthy all day and then after the kids went to bed sitting down in front of the television and eating junk til I felt sick. I knew I needed something more to keep me on track so I joined Weight Watchers on October 19, 2006 - the day after my birthday - weighing in at 316.2 lbs which is what I weighed when I delivered my daughter Genevieve in March 2003. This is definitely not my first attempt on WW but it will be my last. The difference this time is I am focused on living a healthy lifestyle and being active. I want to run and I do not want to be captive in my body anymore. I am never giving up!

So here it is - July 4, 2007 and I have lost 89.2 lbs (current weight 227). I feel great. I haven't seen this weight in 15 years just before I married my husband Henry. I can run (although not for long). I am active exercising 5-6 times per week. I feel free again. I am working hard to lose some more weight before the fall when I will have a surgery to repair a belly-button hernia from the pregnancy as well as varicose veins. Paints a pretty picture doesn't it. :P

I will try and post more regularly and I am going to workout how to add pictures to this blog.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Onwards and downwards!
