You're not even trying!!!
Since moving here to the north I have picked up a very old, very unhealthy habit. I know that it was just a crutch for loneliness and stress. But as of April 30, I stopped. By noon on May 1, I was already caving. As soon as I got the very first craving, I caved and was ready to go out and buy some more. But then I stopped and thought about it and laughed. "You're not even trying!!" I said to myself. "How is that quitting?!" So I didn't go and again at the next craving, I felt like I was just going to cave and go for it and again, I told myself: "You're not even trying! First sign of discomfort and you're done."
Well it's been 11 days now since I stopped but yesterday I was reflecting on my weight-loss journey. It's been 7 months since I had my Slimband surgery and I'm basically where I was. I managed to lose 30 lbs between the pre-op cleanse and the post-op recovery time. Then I've been up and done since then. That is just so disappointing. But then I realized that I am not even trying. I have been eating whatever I want, drinking with my meals - basically not following the program that was given to me after the surgery. And then I wonder why I haven't lost???!!! I'M NOT EVEN TRYING!!! So I decided last night to review some of the materials and follow the program.
I have seen great results on lots of programs, when I FOLLOW THE PROGRAM. But when I deviate and decide I'm so hard done by, and start feeling sorry for myself that I'll ALWAYS have to eat this way, I cave. So I've decided that I'm going to at least TRY!!!! And I know that Yoda Jedi-Master says "Do or do not! There is no try!" but I think that even trying will be better than doing not!!

This post really hits home for me. Yesterday was my first day going low carb and at 8:00 last night I was running for anything sweet, I made what pasta with a cream sauce and then sat on the couch totally defeated. I wasn't trying....
Today you have inspired me to try. Hope you will too :)
Hey! I was so glad to see a post from you. I have been away from blogger, but I have been thinking about you quite a bit lately. Are you ok? It sounds like it's been a bit rough for you over the winter.
My brother and SIL are planning to move up there sometime over the next little while - maybe by Christmas. My SIL's brother runs the Earl's up there. From what she says, I can completely understand your childcare dilemma. It's pretty tough.
Have you checked out any churches? I forget the one I heard is good...
I also completely understand about hardly trying. Are you part of any online support groups for your surgery? It can be really helpful. I have heard that the band can be tricky. Have you been able to have follow up to make sure your band is filled enough?
Know my heart is with you! If you ever come down here, let me know! I would love to connect with you!

Hey Seph! Talk about synchronicity.
I went to a session with a life coach a couple of weeks ago. I told him, "I try but then something stressful happens in life."
His reply, "Like the great wise Yoda says, 'Do or do not, there is no try'"
If you are trying, you are telling yourself it is okay to fail.
If you are doing, no matter how many attempts it takes, you will succeed.
